Lightning Lane Multi Pass Picks for Mixed-Age Groups
The short version: a group's best Multi Pass picks are the rides most of the group can do that have long standby lines later in the day, not the rides you'll already do at opening. Buy it on days where the picks save real time (we use roughly 1.5 hours of standby across the picks as the line for "worth it"), skip it when the picks left are short-line rides, and give each crew its own picks when heights split the group. If you're still deciding whether to buy at all, start with Is Lightning Lane worth it for a group?; this page is about which picks.

The rules that shape a group's picks (checked Oct 15, 2026)
- You choose up to 3 experiences and arrival windows in advance in one park. After using your first, you may be able to choose another, subject to availability.
- Tiers: at Magic Kingdom you can hold at most one from the top group (Big Thunder Mountain, Jungle Cruise, Peter Pan's Flight, Space Mountain, Tiana's Bayou Adventure). At EPCOT, at most one of Frozen Ever After, Remy's Ratatouille Adventure and Test Track. At Hollywood Studios, at most one of Runaway Railway, Smugglers Run, Rock 'n' Roller Coaster and Slinky Dog Dash. Animal Kingdom has no tiers.
- Not in Multi Pass: Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and TRON (Magic Kingdom), Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind (EPCOT), Rise of the Resistance (Hollywood Studios) and Avatar Flight of Passage (Animal Kingdom) are sold separately as Single Pass rides.
- Per person: one Lightning Lane entry per attraction, per day, per pass. Everyone who uses the Lightning Lane needs a pass.
- Same picks at purchase, different picks after: the party buys the same picks, then can change picks and windows for some members, subject to availability.
- When to buy: Disney Resort and select hotel guests from 7 days before their stay; everyone else 3 days before (date-based tickets: 3 days before the first ticket day, for every day). Sales open at 7:00 AM ET.
How we decide a pick is worth it
Our planner uses one simple rule you can apply by hand. For each candidate ride, take its typical standby wait and subtract about 10 minutes (the Lightning Lane line and walking still take time). That's the time saved per person. Add up your three picks:
| Time saved across your picks | Our advice |
|---|---|
| 90 minutes or more | Worth it |
| 45–89 minutes | Optional |
| Under 45 minutes | Skip; standby is fine |
Rides with a typical wait under about 25 minutes save very little as picks: in our catalog's typical waits (estimates, not promises) that includes "it's a small world," Living with the Land, Spaceship Earth and Journey Into Imagination with Figment. Our planner fills picks from the longest typical waits the crew can still do, and only uses a ride like that when nothing longer is left. If your second and third picks would both be short-line rides, it says to skip Multi Pass that day.
Per person, what does that time cost?
Disney sets Multi Pass prices by park and date and shows them in the app. Public price trackers have seen roughly $20–$45 per person per day at Magic Kingdom, $15–$37 at EPCOT, $20–$39 at Hollywood Studios and $15–$35 at Animal Kingdom (before tax; WDWMAGIC and whistlewhileyouwork.com, read Oct 14, 2026). At the 90-minute line, $20–$39 works out to about $13–$26 per person per hour of standby skipped. Multiply by everyone aged 3 and up who'll use it to get the group's cost, and decide if that hour is worth it to your crew.

Picks by park for a mixed-age group
Heights below are from our ride catalog; check each attraction's Disney page before you go. "Everyone" means no height limit.
Magic Kingdom
- Top-tier pick: Peter Pan's Flight (everyone; long typical lines) is the best whole-group pick. Space Mountain (44 in) or Big Thunder Mountain (38 in) suit a thrill crew; Tiana's Bayou Adventure is 40 in.
- Other picks: Haunted Mansion, Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin, Pirates of the Caribbean and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh are all no-height rides with lines that are often worth skipping.
- Do at opening instead: Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and TRON aren't in Multi Pass. With Early Entry, a thrill crew can ride Space Mountain and TRON while the little crew does the carousel and tea cups.
EPCOT
- Top-tier pick: Frozen Ever After or Remy's Ratatouille Adventure (both no height limit) for the whole group; Test Track (40 in) if the crew holding it can all ride.
- Other picks: Soarin' (40 in) has the longest typical line of the second group, then Mission: SPACE (one pick covers both versions; Green is 40 in, Orange 44 in). One return time covers both versions; choose at the ride. Orange spins (G-forces). Disney says skip it with heart, blood pressure, back or neck problems or motion sickness. Disney says no one pregnant should ride either version. Green doesn't spin. After that, EPCOT's remaining options mostly have short typical waits, so they save little as picks; don't let them push you into buying.
- Not in Multi Pass: Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind (42 in) is a Single Pass ride.
Hollywood Studios
- Top-tier pick: Slinky Dog Dash (38 in) and Rock 'n' Roller Coaster (48 in) suit a thrill crew; Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway (everyone) is the whole-group choice.
- Other picks: Toy Story Mania! (everyone) and Tower of Terror (40 in) both have long typical lines. Star Tours (40 in) is a reasonable third.
- Not in Multi Pass: Rise of the Resistance (40 in).
Animal Kingdom
- No tiers. Na'vi River Journey and Kilimanjaro Safaris (both everyone) are the strongest whole-group picks; Expedition Everest (44 in) for a thrill crew.
- Not in Multi Pass: Avatar Flight of Passage (44 in). Many groups ride it at Early Entry.
- Often a skip day: once the big rides are done in the morning, Animal Kingdom's remaining lines are often short enough for standby.
Different picks per crew
When heights split your group, a shared set of picks wastes passes: a pick only the tall kids can ride is useless to the 4-year-old. Two patterns work:
- Both crews hold whole-group picks (rides without height limits). Simple, and everyone rides together in the afternoon.
- The thrill crew holds its picks; the little crew skips Multi Pass that day, or holds different picks you change in the app after purchase. This saves money when the little crew's rides have short lines anyway.
Worked example: the (made-up) Smith crew
Our sample family is six people aged 70, 68, 41, 40, 9 and 4, staying at a Disney Resort hotel, Mar 9–12, 2027. Here's what our planner advises for Multi Pass (cost estimates for the six of them, before tax, from the price trackers above):
| Day | Picks | Advice |
|---|---|---|
| 1 · Hollywood Studios | Thrill crew: Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, Toy Story Mania!, Star Tours. Little crew: skip. | Worth it (about 2 hours of standby saved). About $120–$234 for six. |
| 2 · Magic Kingdom | Both crews: Peter Pan's Flight, Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin, Haunted Mansion. | Worth it (about 100 minutes saved). About $120–$270 for six. |
| 3 · Animal Kingdom | None needed after the morning rides. | Optional, only if they want Na'vi River Journey without its ~55-minute typical wait. |
| 4 · EPCOT | Thrill crew: Test Track, Soarin', Mission: SPACE. Little crew: skip. | Worth it (about 100 minutes saved). About $90–$222 for six. |
About the Mission: SPACE pick: One return time covers both versions; choose at the ride. Orange spins (G-forces). Disney says skip it with heart, blood pressure, back or neck problems or motion sickness. Disney says no one pregnant should ride either version. Green doesn't spin. With a 68-year-old in the thrill crew, the plan suggests Green.
Notice the pattern: the big rides with height limits happen at Early Entry with the crews split, Multi Pass covers the afternoon's long lines, and on days where the little crew's rides were done in the morning they don't pay for passes they won't use. They book everything on Mar 2, 2027 at 7:00 AM ET, 7 days before check-in. Open the full sample plan to see it per day. On split days, the little crew rides standby in the afternoon while the thrill crew uses its return windows.
